Five Things That Make Sense to Your Cat But Not to You

You love your cat, but there are probably some things she does that leave you scratching your head in confusion. These are the actions that don't seem to make sense.

While you may not be able to figure out why your cat is exhibiting unusual behavior, that doesn't mean they aren't completely logical about purring animals.

Here are 5 things that make sense for your cat... but not necessarily for you.

A sweet and affectionate kitten turns into a violent and biting one in a second

Your cat jumps into your lap and curls up. She may even rub against you as if she wants to be petted.

You start petting her, she purrs with pleasure, and after a few minutes she pulls away and scratches you! Why is that?

While this sudden change in attitude seems to come out of nowhere, it is relatively common behavior in some cats who have reached their tolerance threshold when it comes to petting.

A behavior known as "petting aggression" occurs when a cat becomes overstimulated by constant petting or when her body language cues are ignored.

She thinks the only way to make you stop is to scratch or bite. To avoid this behavior in the future, pay attention to the signals your cat gives that indicate she may be reaching her limit.

Typical signs include: skin twitching, tail wagging, cessation of purring, change in body position, ears pointing back, meowing.

Vomiting after eating weed

This happens to some cats that go outside. Many pets love to eat grass and get great pleasure from it. After a few minutes of chewing greens, you hear the familiar sound of cat vomit.

Many even grow cat grass to please their purring friend. However, eating the grass usually leads to vomiting, and this is necessary so that the cat can defecate.

So why do cats like to eat something that almost always makes them vomit? There are several theories among experts, but no one knows for sure. It is quite possible that your pet friend uses the herb as a way to cope with an upset stomach.

Some cats may also chew grass to help vomit up hairballs that do not pass through the stomach.

He puts his paw in the water and then licks it.

Why does your cat dip its paw into its water bowl and then lick the water instead of just drinking like normal?

This may not seem to make sense to humans, but from a cat's perspective, it's a very practical behavior. In some cases, a cat will choose the paw method if the water bowl is too deep or too narrow.

Cats have long whiskers and do not like to be brushed. Paw dipping makes it more comfortable. A cat in a multi-cat household may resort to paw dipping for safety if tension is high in the home.

Your purring friend may not feel comfortable enough to put his head in the bowl, as he will be vulnerable. If he needs to keep an eye on an "opponent" (like another cat in the house or a dog), then the best way is to dip his paw.

The cat is sitting with its back to you

Many members of the human family find this behavior very offensive. The cat jumps into your lap to sit, but then turns its back to you. There is a simple reason for this. A purring pet is not offensive, it is actually demonstrating great trust.

Since a cat is both a predator and a prey, it wants to settle in the safest place. If it turns its back to you while it gets used to you, it shows that it trusts you and may even keep an eye on the surroundings for both of you.

Crazy Cat Behavior

Your cat suddenly and out of nowhere decides to run around the house, as if chasing some imaginary mouse. You look around, but can't find any sign of the mouse, spider, or whatever your cat is chasing. Why is this behavior happening?

Perhaps a cute friend can see shadow or light, or he just has this kind of energy built up.
