Many of us still live in small apartments. And the owners of studio apartments also have a hard time. And it's all about the small area of such homes.

The abundance of furniture, household items and accessories takes away already valuable square meters, caring for them takes time and effort, and visual noise spoils the entire impression of the interior.

Yulia Tychino tells us what household habits owners of small apartments should acquire so that the space in them looks clean, spacious and comfortable for living.

The first habit is removing dust and unnecessary objects from the surfaces of nightstands, windowsills, tables, and shelves.

A clean home immediately makes it easier to breathe, and empty shelves and countertops give the feeling of more space.

So, don't fill open areas in the living room with figurines, vases, books, in the kitchen, put away all kinds of sponges for dishes, bottles of washing gel, knife stands from your and other people's eyes, don't put a bread box, a stand with napkins or a vase of fruit on the dining table. The more free and clean the rooms are, the better.

Habit number two is to take a more responsible approach to purchasing household and everyday goods. After all, a new set of glasses, a blender or a set of bed linen will require a certain place where it will be stored for the time being.

Think carefully about whether there is an objective need for the purchase or whether you just want to have another beautiful thing.

Otherwise, the small area of the apartment will become even smaller, since part of it will be filled with things bought on impulse.

The third habit is to store things in closed shelves, drawers and cabinets. Open shelves collect dust, a pile of books or decor on them creates a feeling of disorder, and glass cabinet doors will have to be wiped clean of fingerprints.

Therefore, getting organizers, containers, boxes with dividers inside and storing household items in them, placing the containers in a closed cabinet or drawer is the best solution.

This way, a small kitchen or bedroom will visually increase in size, and you won’t have to clean it more often than necessary.

Habit number four - when choosing things for the home, give preference not to how beautiful or fashionable they are, but to how practical they are.

For example, to save space in the kitchen, it is better to buy not a regular table, but a folding or foldable one; instead of a huge carpet that takes up the entire floor surface and "eats up" the area of the room, buy one or two mats that can help in zoning the space and serve as a bath mat if necessary.

Instead of massive armchairs and large dining chairs, get bean bag chairs and lightweight stools, because they are easy to move from room to room.

The fifth habit is no matter how many things you have and how little space you have to store them, use every opportunity to leave empty spaces in your closet, behind the doors of wall cabinets, and in your nightstand.

Why? This will allow you to clean up faster, and you will also be able to quickly put away from sight a gift that guests or relatives brought you. The box or bag with it will not be an eyesore, standing on the table or nightstand and disrupting the overall harmony.

And habit number six, which would be a good idea for everyone, but especially for owners of small homes, is to declutter regularly.

If you feel like the walls of your apartment are "pressing" on you, and there is not enough air and space, start methodically reviewing the contents of your shelves, drawers, boxes and get rid of the excess, old and unnecessary.

This way you will clear your apartment of the abundance of objects and help others by giving away or selling them what is bothering you and unnecessarily taking up space in the house.
