Quartz vinyl for floors: pros and cons of the Japanese "miracle"

Quartzvinyl did not immediately win the hearts of Russians, but now it is confidently nipping at the heels of laminate.
This Japanese discovery has many positive aspects, but there are also plenty of downsides.
The expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, designer Yulia Tychino, told us more about this floor covering.
What is quartz vinyl?
Visually it is similar to laminate. It is a symbiosis of strength and flexibility.
In practice it has 5 layers:
- "base" (consists of PVC and is responsible for reliable adhesion of the tiles to the floor surface);
- base (a mixture of vinyl and quartz sand (its share reaches 75%));
- balance layer (reinforcing function);
- decorative layer;
- the top (protective) layer, consisting of polyurethane with an admixture of aluminum oxide.
6 pros and 6 cons
Despite five layers, quartz vinyl is easy to install.
In addition, it is not afraid of moisture and will not warp at all.
If dishes suddenly fall, they are highly unlikely to break on quartz vinyl. Unless you do it on purpose.
This covering absorbs sounds and is non-slip thanks to the protective layer.
But it doesn't protect against scratches very well. This is the disadvantage people complain about most often.
It requires special care, even more stringent than in the case of laminate.
In addition, quartz vinyl absorbs dyes.
Only a perfectly level floor is suitable for installation.
Quartz vinyl also fixes dents from furniture.
And the sixth minus is related to the fragility of the locking system. It is even more “delicate” than that of laminate.
