How to Boil an Egg Without Cracks: The Simple Life Hack You Missed

Eggs are prepared in a variety of ways every day in every kitchen.

But how many times have you taken them out of the pan and seen the shell crack and the white leak out?

It may seem like a small thing, but a spoiled appearance and taste can ruin any morning.

The good news is that there is a way to do it right, and it's easier than you think. Let's look at how to get the perfect result.

The main reason for cracks is a sudden change in temperature. When you put a cold egg from the refrigerator into boiling water, the shell can't withstand it and cracks. To avoid this, take the eggs out in advance and let them warm up to room temperature. This will take 20-30 minutes, and the risk of damage will be significantly reduced.

If you don't have time, hold them under warm tap water for a couple of minutes - the effect will be similar.

Water is also important. Many people throw eggs into already boiling water, but it is better to start with cold water. Put them in a saucepan, pour water so that it covers the shell by a couple of centimeters, and put it on the fire.

Once the water boils, reduce the heat and time it: 6–7 minutes for soft-boiled, 10–11 for hard-boiled. The gradual heating helps the shell adapt and stays intact.

Salt in water is an old trick that really works. Add a teaspoon per liter, and even if a crack appears, the whites will not leak out because the salt will speed up its curdling.

Vinegar will also work, but it can slightly change the taste, so it's an acquired taste. But piercing the shell with a pin, as some advise, is not worth it - it's extra work that does not always save.

The pan matters. If the eggs roll around freely on the bottom, they can hit each other and crack. Place a folded towel on the bottom or use a smaller pan to keep them in place.

After cooking, immediately place them in cold water - this will make the shell easier to remove, the cooking process will stop, and the yolk will not turn grey.

With these steps, your eggs will be perfect - no cracks or surprises. Try it tomorrow morning and see for yourself.
