An expert has warned about the hidden dangers of talking to scammers “out of curiosity.”
Some Russians engage in dialogue with telephone scammers as a joke, and then run into problems.
Lawyer Anton Palyulin told the Prime agency that any dialogue with a fraudster is fraught with the loss of money and theft of personal information (passport data, logins, passwords, etc.).
Fraudsters are masters of so-called social engineering. They quickly find "weak points" and precisely hit them.
Most often, attackers try to scare the victim and force them to act hastily, leaving very little time to think about their actions.
For example, they threaten to block bank cards or have serious consequences for relatives.
Therefore, people who enter into dialogue “out of curiosity” also risk falling into the clutches of scammers.
In addition, the scammers see that the person is open to communication, so he will call many more times, working out different schemes.
And he will definitely pass on the number of such a person to his “colleagues”, who will apply their manipulations.
The lawyer emphasized that it is almost impossible to return money stolen by telephone scammers.
The method of protection is simple: end the conversation and, if necessary, contact official representatives of the required organization (bank, Federal Tax Service, etc.).
