Fraudsters have begun to actively use a scheme that targets customs officers.
Details were reported on the official Telegram channel of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia.
The department reported an increase in the number of cases in which fraudsters try to steal data from FCS employees.
To do this, they use fake accounts on behalf of the “FTS leadership.”
The scammers introduce themselves as “Ivan Ivanovich” and ask the department’s employees to provide assistance to various authorities and law enforcement officers.
But the main goal is to try to extract personal data from an official.
Fraudsters also seek to obtain the transfer of funds, including those taken on credit.
In such cases, officials must contact the customs service's anti-corruption department.
Meanwhile, statistics show that more and more marketplace users are encountering scammers.
Since the beginning of 2024, 85% of Russians surveyed or their relatives have been targeted by criminals.
