The Minister of Finance spoke about the situation with the national currency exchange rate.
Anton Siluanov explained the reason for the weakening of the ruble and stated that the situation will soon stabilize.
The official stated that the national currency began to rapidly depreciate against the dollar due to sanctions against Gazprombank, RIA Novosti reports.
Siluanov explained that this financial organization plays a key role in the context of foreign economic settlements.
Experts are already working on finding alternative options for settlements with counterparties abroad.
The head of the Ministry of Finance claims that “another week or two and everything will be fine.” However, Siluanov did not specify which specific ruble exchange rate he was referring to.
It all started on November 21, when it became known that the United States had decided to impose sanctions against Gazprombank and its six foreign subsidiaries.
In the last days of November, the ruble set an anti-record, updating the lows of spring 2022.
