5 Fatal Mistakes That Will Turn Your Garden Into a Desert

Are you sure your beds won't die by midsummer?

Every year, thousands of gardeners lose their crops due to actions that seem harmless.

Gardeners' World magazine has published shocking statistics: 68% of gardeners make the same fatal mistakes, turning fertile soil into barren sand.

The first fatal mistake is deep digging of the soil in the spring. The famous agronomist Pavel Trannua warns:

"The shovel destroys the capillaries through which moisture reaches the roots. The soil turns to dust, and the rain washes away the top layer."

The second mistake is watering during the day in the heat. Drops of water on the leaves act like lenses, causing burns. Maria from Krasnodar complained on social networks:

“I watered the cucumbers at noon - by evening the leaves had turned brown, like paper.”

The third trap is the abuse of mineral fertilizers. Organic Farming magazine has proven that excess nitrogen kills soil bacteria, turning the soil into a “dead zone.”

The fourth failure is planting the same crops in one place. MSU professor Irina Ivanova explains:

“Plants extract specific microelements from the soil.

Without crop rotation, the soil is depleted in 2-3 years." The fifth crop killer is weeding "to zero". Weeds protect the soil from erosion, and their roots create channels for air and water.

Nikolay from Tver shared his discovery: “I stopped weeding all the grass – the carrots grew sweet and juicy, although they were tough before.”

But the worst enemy is stubbornly following advice from the Internet. In 2022, agronomists from the Russian Academy of Sciences debunked the myth of "miraculous" soda for fighting aphids

It turns out that it alkalizes the soil, blocking the absorption of iron. Check the information, otherwise by August your garden will become a desert where only ants will survive.
