Orchids are quite capricious and demanding plants to care for.
Any mistakes in caring for this beautiful flower can result in the death of the plant for its owner.
Together with the expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, we will understand the intricacies of watering orchids.
The most common cause of the flower's death is excessive watering. The plant's sensitive root system dies if it is left in waterlogged soil for a long time.
To avoid this, use a submersible watering system, where the plant is immersed in a bowl of water for half an hour. This way, it will take as much moisture as it needs.
The second typical mistake is watering the orchid with cold water. The flower should not be watered with either too hot or too cold water: its temperature should be several degrees higher than room temperature.
The third mistake is using hard water. Therefore, it is recommended to settle or filter the water before watering the plant.
Note: Regular tap water can be softened by adding half a teaspoon of citric acid to five liters of water.
The orchid does not tolerate so-called joint watering, that is, those who water the plant using the immersion watering method must change the water for each new flower.
The fifth mistake is not following the rules of care after watering. Excess moisture must be blotted with a napkin, otherwise the core of the orchid will begin to rot.
