According to experts, well-developed tomato bushes produce an earlier harvest than weak and stunted plants.
Strong seedlings easily tolerate picking and transplanting to a permanent place - in a garden bed or in a greenhouse. How to properly apply fertilizer to tomato seedlings, taking into account the stage of plant development?
It is always very interesting to observe how tomato seedlings respond to this or that nutrition, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Experienced gardeners who grow tomato seedlings by picking know that at the initial stage of development, the plants have enough mineral substances initially present in the soil. Therefore, before transplanting, the seedlings are treated and watered with solutions that have growth-stimulating properties.
We offer you three recipes for feeding tomato seedlings before picking to choose from.
Regular aspirin, sold in every pharmacy, is obtained from willow bark.
Acetylsalicylic acid helps seedlings easily endure planting stress, strengthens the phytoimmunity of plants and neutralizes unfavorable development conditions (hypothermia, slight lack of light, drafts in the room, etc.).
To prepare the solution, 1 tablet of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid 500 mg) is crushed into powder and then dissolved in one liter of warm water (temperature about +38°C).
The solution is carefully poured onto each seedling at a rate of 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per root. The most convenient way to apply the solution is with a syringe or a large syringe without a needle.
A single watering of tomato seedlings at the roots with aspirin solution is carried out 1-2 days before picking.
The remainder of the nutrient liquid can be safely used to strengthen the phytoimmunity of all indoor flowers, house plants, as well as seedlings of other vegetables and ornamental crops. The result of introducing the solution is noticeable by the activation of the growth point and the enhancement of the color of the leaves.
A solution of hydrogen peroxide enriches the soil with oxygen, which is vital for the formation of a branched and healthy root system. Add 1 tablespoon of three percent perhydrol to 0.5 liters of water at room temperature (about +25°C).
The seedlings are watered at the root at the rate of 1 teaspoon per bush. Additionally, tomato growers advise spraying the plants with a solution of hydrogen peroxide on the leaves from a hand sprayer. The next day you can already visually notice an improvement in the appearance of the seedlings.
Such treatments and fertilizing are allowed to be carried out once every 10-12 days, starting from the stage of formation of cotyledon leaves. The solution is especially useful before picking into individual planting containers, as well as before planting adult bushes in greenhouse and garden beds.
The main objective of the preparation is to increase the resistance of plants to adverse factors and strengthen the immunity of seedlings, that is, the ability to resist dangerous fungal and bacterial diseases.
Shake 1 drop of the preparation vigorously in 1 liter of water until a light foam forms. Moisten the soil lump with the solution (1 teaspoon per seedling) and treat the seedlings with a sprayer.
Plants are strengthened with zircon both before picking and a few days after. During the period of growing seedlings on the windowsill, the growth stimulator is used 2-3 times, as needed.
Any of the suggested recipes for feeding tomato seedlings before transplanting will help the plants develop properly and not get sick. Dive the plants correctly!
