Autumn in our latitudes may come early.
Therefore, many gardeners and summer residents are faced with the need to speed up the ripening of grapes.
Together with the expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, we figure out how to do this.
A number of actions that need to be carried out on the vine will help speed up the ripening of grapes.
One of these methods is vine ringing. To do this, a thin layer of bark is removed in a ring-shaped manner in the area of the lowest bunch of the plant.
Another method is pinching. It involves cutting off the upper shoots, up to 30 centimeters in height, so that the plant does not supply them with resources in vain.
It is also important to thin out the leaves that shade the bunches and are located below the lowest bunch of grapes.
There is a way to speed up ripening by working with the bunches. It is necessary to thin out the bunches that are growing too densely, and also to twist the bunches so that the shaded side remains on the sunny side.
It is also important to remember that you need to stop watering the plants, as this helps the berries fill with juice, but at the same time slows down their ripening.
