Fruit trees grow quite quickly, becoming taller and thicker.

Moreover, sometimes even pruning the tree does not help solve this problem.

Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained how to prevent a tree from growing tall.

How to reduce the crown

It is not advisable to start pruning the tree crown too early. After planting, it is not recommended to touch it for about five years.

After this period, the crown can be reduced if necessary.

But this needs to be done correctly, taking into account three important nuances.

First, you need to cut the central conductor. You need to cut it in the place where there is a side branch that goes off at an angle of 45 degrees.

After that, we move on to removing the shoots that grow inside the crown.

The final stage will be pruning the lateral skeletal branches. It should also be taken into account that in the end there should be a distance of about 50 cm between them.

The branches can also be bent a little. They can be secured to the trunk with a rope or bent toward the ground.

In addition, the branches should be cut "to the ring". In this case, a little bark should remain near the cut.

Earlier we talked about what you shouldn’t plant next to grapes.
