Not everyone is lucky enough to have fertile soil on their plot.

However, you can achieve this effect yourself if you know what to add to the soil when preparing for the new season.

How to turn clay into black soil

If your site has clay soil or sandy loam, then at least a third of the fertile layer should be humus.

The work should begin with marking out the area so that the soil can be improved only where the beds will be located.

In order to obtain black soil from clay soil, several steps are taken:

  • the top fertile layer is removed;
  • the soil from the bottom is mixed with compost and sand;
  • The top layer is mixed with sand and returned to its place.

Thanks to such simple manipulations, it is possible to significantly reduce the density of the soil on the site and as a result, within a couple of years, obtain real black soil on the site.

Both the roots of the plants that you plant here and the worms that will definitely appear in the garden will help in its formation.
