Many people value lilacs for their beautiful flowers and pleasant aroma.

But with this plant, not everything is as clear as it seems at first glance.

Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained whether it is worth planting lilacs in a plot.

Possible harm

Lilacs undoubtedly decorate the area. But at the same time, this plant can also cause some harm.

This shrub grows very intensively. And therefore it can deplete the soil quite strongly. So this plant will need a lot of fertilizer.

In addition, the roots of lilac are large. This bush can "suck" moisture from the soil at a distance of several meters from itself.

Lilacs can also attract various insects that can harm nearby plants.

It should be taken into account that some crops do not tolerate proximity to lilacs. Tomatoes, potatoes and cucumbers will not grow well near this bush.

Therefore, if desired, it is better to plant lilacs as far away from the garden as possible and in places where they will not interfere too much.

Earlier we talked about how to increase the cucumber harvest several times.
