Healthy and unusually strong tomato bushes are not always a reason to be proud.

If the bushes do not bear fruit, you risk being left without a harvest.

Together with the expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , we figure out what fattening tomatoes are and how to fight this scourge.

Appearance

Fat tomatoes differ from regular tomatoes by having thick and long stems, large leaves, and an abundance of pale and crumbling flowers.

This happens due to excess moisture, fertilizers, overly dense planting of plants, or excessive temperature conditions.

How to combat fattening of tomatoes

First of all, adjust the care of the plantings.

Plant the bushes and make sure they get enough light. If you are growing them in a greenhouse, be sure to wipe the windows thoroughly.

Reduce watering and be sure to monitor air circulation: it is better not to close the greenhouse at night.

In order to water tomatoes less frequently in the future, mulch the soil with straw or hay. This will help retain moisture in the soil.

Remember that tomatoes should be watered no more than every 5-7 days. In the first case - if they grow on sandy soil, in the second - on loam.
