All gardeners know that you cannot plant the same crop in the same place for several seasons in a row.
It is also important to consider plant compatibility, as this also affects yield.
Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told what can be planted in a garden bed after cucumbers.
It is important to take into account that cucumbers can “draw” many useful substances from the soil, depleting it.
Therefore, not all plants will be able to grow in such a bed.
So it is advisable to sow it with green manure beforehand. They will help restore soil fertility.
In the bed where cucumbers grew, you can plant root crops: radishes, beets, carrots and other plants.
But it is better to add fertilizers to the soil first. It is advisable to do this in the autumn.
Greens and herbs grow well after cucumbers.
To avoid being left without a harvest, it is better not to replant cucumbers in the same bed.
Melons, watermelons, pumpkins and squash will not grow well in this place. These plants may be susceptible to similar diseases and pests.
It is not recommended to plant cabbage after cucumbers. It will not have enough nutrients in this place, and therefore the harvest may be poor.
