Why do cherries dry up in spring?
The causes of the problem with stone fruit trees may be hidden in the following:
- close proximity to groundwater, which prevents the root system from developing normally;
- freezing of roots and trunk;
- the presence of cockchafer larvae, which damage the roots of the tree;
- disease of stone fruits.
How to fight diseases
If a tree begins to wither due to disease, it is necessary to take care of it in several stages.
In spring, before the buds open, the cherry tree is sprayed with Bordeaux mixture, then whitewashed with lime.
Throughout the year, it is necessary to loosen the soil to improve air permeability.
After flowering, it is also recommended to spray the trees with a 1% solution of Bordeaux mixture.
In the fall, if necessary, you need to thin out the trees and treat the cut sites to prevent infection.
