Felt cherry is one of the most popular crops in Russia.
However, many gardeners and vegetable growers are faced with the fact that the tree does not bloom or bear fruit.
Together with the expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, we will look into the reasons for this phenomenon.
If you notice that the plant does not bloom or bear fruit, the reason may be the absence of related plants nearby.
If you plant several different varieties with the same flowering period near the felt cherry, then you can correct the situation.
The reason may also be in the wrong location chosen for the tree. Cherry is light-loving and prefers sandy loam soils with groundwater levels no higher than one and a half meters.
In addition, the reason for the absence of flowers and then fruits is too mild autumn or late spring frosts.
And you certainly shouldn’t expect a bountiful harvest from young trees: some varieties begin to bear fruit only in the 4th-5th year of cultivation.
Earlier we listed 4 reasons why cherry trees bloom but do not bear fruit.
