Ficus is a rather capricious plant that requires careful care.

In this case, it is important to choose the right pot for this plant.

Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained what to look for when choosing a container for planting a ficus.

No hole

The development of the plant and the formation of its leaves depends on the pot in which it grows.

For ficuses, it is important that such a container has drainage holes.

They help to remove excess moisture. If this moment is not foreseen, it can have a negative effect on the roots of the plant and even lead to its death.

Incorrect volume

When replanting a ficus, you should ensure that the pot is not much larger than its root system.

In this case, it is worth choosing a container that is just a few centimeters larger in volume than the previous one.

If there is a lot of free space in the pot, the plant can actively grow roots.

But in this situation, the growth of leaves and shoots may slow down.

Inappropriate material

Ficuses are not very sensitive to the material of the pot.

Therefore, in this case, you can choose both plastic and clay options.

But the plant will feel best in a container with a honeycomb structure.

In such a pot, water will not stagnate, which will also have a good effect on the condition of the flower.

However, you should not water the plant too often, especially in winter.
