Today, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the martyrs Adrian and Natalia.
Among the people, this celebration is called the Day of Adrian and Natalia.
In Rus', on this day it was customary to prepare for the coming autumn changes.
Hadrian and Natalia were a married couple living in Nicodemus during the reign of Emperor Galerius.
As Christians, Adrian and Natalia preached the teachings of the Son of God. The believers were married from an early age, so they preached together everywhere.
When the emperor began persecuting Christians, twenty-three believers were imprisoned in casemates.
Hadrian, who was at that time not only a preacher but also the head of the court, was greatly indignant when he saw how the imperial authorities were torturing Christians.
For this act the believer was seized and thrown into prison. Before the execution he was released home so that he could say goodbye to his wife.
Adrian died on the scaffold. Natalia, who was suffering from the loss of her husband, soon had a dream in which her husband told her that they would soon be together. And so it happened: Natalia subsequently died.
