'Most Significant': US Secret Service Admits Failure in Trump Assassination Attempt
The US has commented on the assassination attempts on presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The Secret Service acknowledged that the crime was one of the greatest failures of the intelligence agencies.
The head of the department, Kimberly Cheatle, made this comment at a congressional hearing, RIA Novosti reports.
Cheatle acknowledged that what happened on July 13 was a complete failure on the part of American intelligence agencies.
Moreover, according to the head of the Secret Service, the intelligence services have not experienced such a large-scale failure for several decades.
Cheatle did not deny the guilt of the employees under her command and noted that she takes full responsibility.
Assassination attempt on Trump
Let us recall that the incident in Pennsylvania occurred on July 13. At that time, Donald Trump was giving a campaign speech there.
The presidential candidate suffered a minor wound to the ear and escaped serious injury, while one of the spectators who was near the stage during the attack died.
Two other people who attended the rally were also injured.
The shooter, who turned out to be 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was hiding in an industrial building 100 meters from the stage. The special services quickly eliminated the attacker.
