New details about the development of the conflict between North and South Korea have become known.
Pyongyang carried out an operation to blow up two sections of inter-Korean roads located on its territory.
The information about the incident was confirmed by the South Korean agency Yonhap , citing information received from the military.
According to media reports, the roads in question are called Kyongyi and Donghae, located north of the demarcation line. The publication clarifies that these roads were previously considered a symbol of cooperation between the two countries.
It is noted that Pyongyang warned of its intentions in advance. On October 9, the DPRK announced its intention to completely cut off communication with the neighboring side, blocking automobile and railway routes.
North Korea notified US representatives of its move so that they would be aware of the situation and no misunderstandings would arise as a result.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff stressed that they had stepped up monitoring of the situation and put their military forces on alert.
