Russians arrested in US on cyber fraud charges

American authorities have arrested two Russians on charges of hacking.

US law enforcement officers have taken Russian and Kazakh citizens Pavel Kublitsky and Alexander Khodyrev into custody.

They are suspected of trading information that was obtained illegally, RIA Novosti writes, citing information from the prosecutor's office.

The Russians, according to US authorities, operated an internet platform for exchanging data, through which interested parties received illegally obtained information.

According to the investigation, Kublitsky and Khodyrev arrived in the United States in 2022. They requested political asylum from the country's authorities.

The men settled in the state of Florida, where they lived a luxurious lifestyle without being officially employed.

The police raided them on July 30. They were arrested then. The first court hearing in their case is scheduled for August 9.
