South Africa reports on preparations for evacuation of people threatened by flooding

South African authorities are beginning to evacuate people living in Citrusdal and villages in the Cape Winelands region. Details are reported by TASS , citing the head of the province's disaster risk management, Colin Diner.

It is noted that rescue efforts had to be started due to the threat of new downpours and floods.

According to Diner, a huge amount of rainfall is predicted in the west of the country. With this in mind, the decision was made to evacuate people.

He noted that the capital, Cape Town, was the worst-hit place, with roads flooded and 14,000 buildings damaged.

It added that Western Cape rescue services are currently on duty.
