According to the preliminary investigation, the woman, who was a citizen of Uzbekistan, was killed on December 9.
The murdered woman's body was hidden by her cohabitant in a suitcase, which he then buried in the ground and left in the basement of a house in the Nevsky district.
The man left Russia and went to his homeland in Uzbekistan, where on December 10 he went to the police with a confession to the murder of his common-law wife and revealed the location of her body.
An investigation team was sent to the address, which confirmed the veracity of the suspect's testimony. All necessary examinations are being carried out, including medical ones, necessary to establish the cause of the woman's death.
