In Tyumen, a one-year-old boy underwent surgery at the Medical and Sanitary Unit hospital.
The baby was born with extra fingers and toes.
The medical institution's press service reported this on VKontakte.
Doctors began treatment when the boy was only one month old.
The child had his rudimentary fingers removed under local anesthesia.
Then, a year later, doctors performed surgery on his right foot, removing two extra toes.
These were the first and fifth fingers, the doctors' report emphasized.
Now doctors have to correct the position of the baby's feet so that they function properly.
According to traumatologist-orthopedist Ruzel Vagizov, the operation was successful. The patient recently began to walk.
Geneticists believe that a cross gene between the parents could have caused an anomaly in the development of the baby's hands and feet.
