Commuter train and truck collide in Saint Petersburg

The truck drove onto the railway track while an electric train was moving along it.

The incident occurred at the Bronevaya station in St. Petersburg on Friday, September 6.

Details were reported on the Telegram channel of the North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office.

According to preliminary data, everything indicates that the truck driver drove through a red light.

The driver probably thought he would have time to "slip through." At the same time, visibility was limited. The truck drove onto the crossing and at that moment the electric train knocked it down.

The driver applied emergency braking, but the chances of avoiding a collision were extremely slim. For the driver, everything happened in a matter of moments.

There were no casualties in the accident. The truck driver was reportedly injured but survived.

A preliminary investigation is currently underway. The circumstances of the incident and the exact cause of the incident are being established.
