Contractors get jail terms for embezzlement during construction of secret bunkers
The unscrupulous contractors were involved in a case of embezzlement.
The funds stolen by the criminals were to be used to build secret bunkers.
RIA Novosti journalists learned about this from representatives of the Second Western District Military Court.
It is noted that hearings on the case in question have been ongoing since June 2024. All hearings were held behind closed doors due to the secrecy of the facilities.
Details of the trial
As media representatives learned, two people were involved in the theft case:
- Deputy General Director of Atlas LLC Dmitry Pipko;
- former general director of M-Stroy LLC Andrey Epifantsev.
The court sentenced the first defendant to seven years of imprisonment, the second received three years. They will serve their sentences in a general regime penal colony.
As the investigation revealed, the contractors significantly inflated the cost of the equipment that was needed to construct the secret structures.
Some of the alleged costs incurred by contractors existed only on paper.
The court estimated the damage at 1.8 billion rubles.
