Defendant in General Popov's case pleads guilty

A defendant in the case of Major General Ivan Popov has admitted his guilt and is cooperating with the investigation.

We are talking about businessman Sergei Moiseev, who is the second defendant in the case of the officer with the call sign “Spartak”.

Law enforcement agencies reported that Moiseyev fully confessed and is “actively cooperating” with investigators, TASS reports.

In addition, the entrepreneur has already paid off part of the damage caused.

Taking this and other facts into account, investigators are petitioning to place the businessman under house arrest. The court will consider this issue on Monday, July 15.

On the same day, according to the lawyer, General Popov’s measure of restraint may be changed.

The court will again consider the issue of transferring the officer to house arrest. In the meantime, he and Moiseyev are in a pretrial detention facility.

The businessman and general are accused of large-scale fraud and official forgery.
