Fraudsters posing as participants of the "Battle of Psychics" deceived 12 Petersburg residents
Fraudsters took advantage of the name of a popular show and deceived residents of St. Petersburg.
A man and two women created a scheme based on the provision of services in the field of magic.
The group began its activities back in 2017, the united press service of the courts of St. Petersburg reported on its Telegram channel.
The scammers launched a website and posed as participants in the show “Battle of Psychics”.
They offered magical services to Russians and created the illusion that they were supposedly endowed with a special gift.
12 people fell for the trick. They submitted applications online and received “psychic” consultations over the phone.
The scammers had their own price list, so the victims paid them from 10 thousand to 248 thousand rubles for various services. The total amount of damage was 939 thousand rubles.
The group was organized by a man. He received 5 years in a general regime penal colony. The women were sentenced to 3 and 3.5 years.
