Freight train driver who collided with passenger train remanded in custody
The investigation into the train collision incident in the Murmansk region continues.
As part of the case, the driver of the freight train was arrested.
RIA Novosti learned about this from representatives of the press service of the Western Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that the man was charged under the article on violation of the rules for the operation of railway transport, which ultimately resulted in the death of two people.
The Murmansk District Court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the defendant in the case.
Train Collision
The incident involving a collision between a freight train loaded with ore and a passenger train carrying 326 people occurred on Wednesday, December 18.
As a result of the impact, 14 freight cars and 4 passenger cars derailed.
27 people were injured, two of whom died from their injuries.
As the investigation revealed, the cause of the incident was the spontaneous movement of the freight train due to its malfunction.
