Kuban court sentences drunk driver who caused death of newborn
It has become known what fate befell the driver who got behind the wheel while intoxicated.
For a fatal traffic accident, the man will have to spend 12 years in prison.
This was reported in the official Telegram channel of the united press service of the Kuban courts.
It is noted that the defendant himself admitted his guilt only partially. According to the defendant in the case, it was not he who was driving, but his friend, and therefore his guilt lies only in allowing him to take the driver's seat.
However, the court found that the man was guilty of violating traffic rules while intoxicated and should be held accountable for this crime to the fullest extent of the law.
Circumstances of the fatal accident
The accident, which resulted in the death of two people, occurred in August 2022. The defendant in the case drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a VAZ 2109 car.
It is noted that a young family was traveling in the VAZ after being discharged from the maternity hospital. The driver of the car and the newborn died, the child's mother and her six-year-old daughter were injured.
Earlier it was reported that two people died in a car collision in Moscow.
