Law enforcement officers confiscated over 18 tons of jade from a resident of the Irkutsk region.
It is emphasized that the stone was kept by the man without the appropriate documents.
The Irkutsk Region Prosecutor's Office noted: "The legality of the jade mining was not documented. In connection with this, the police confiscated the mineral," as reported by TASS .
It is also reported that the jade was stored in a private house in the village of Mamony.
As the regional prosecutor's office emphasized, today the rock has been transferred to state ownership.
In their actions, law enforcement officers were guided by legislation, which states that all minerals located on the territory of the Russian Federation are state property.
Jade is a mineral that is directly related to semi-precious stones.
This rock is used for the production of jewelry and decorative items.
