Passenger train collides with freight train in Murmansk region

A serious accident occurred on the railway in the Murmansk region.

Here on Wednesday, December 18, a passenger train collided with a freight train.

Details were reported by the press service of the North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office.

The incident occurred on the territory of the Knyazhaya station (332 km from Murmansk), which is located within the city limits of the village of Zelenoborsky (Kandalaksha district).

According to preliminary data, three passenger cars and freight cars derailed.

There were 326 passengers on train number 11.

Information on the number of victims is still being collected.

7 ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the emergency.

The head of the Murmansk region, Andrei Chibis, also headed here.

The Governor informed about the preparation of places to accommodate passengers after the incident.

Traffic on the section of road where the collision occurred has reportedly been suspended.

Information about the circumstances of the incident is also being collected. Experts are currently investigating the causes of the collision.
