Raw food blogger blames mother for death of malnourished child
Blogger and raw foodist Maxim Lyuty received 10 years in prison on charges of causing fatal malnutrition to his son.
Initially, the court sentenced him to 8 years, but the appellate court decided to increase the punishment, taking into account the circumstances of the case.
The trial attracted attention due to the resonant details of the incident, RIA Novosti reports.
During the hearing, Lyuty accused his child's mother of slandering him for personal reasons, jealousy and a desire to appropriate his funds.
The accused asked the court not to make his sentence harsher. He claimed that he had acted unintentionally towards his son.
During the investigation it was revealed that Lyuty deliberately limited the child's diet due to the rules of raw food. He left the baby without food for a day several times.
He also doused the child with cold water several times, for what he claimed were health purposes.
The child died after being unable to bear the abuse. He died on the way to the hospital after his condition deteriorated sharply.
The court accused the man of cruelty, causing serious harm to the health of the child and improper performance of parental responsibilities.
Lyuty's wife received 2 years of correctional labor.
Now Lyuty accuses the child’s mother of slandering him for personal reasons.
