Former Russian Prime Minister Sergei Stepashin stated that the necropolis has no place near the Kremlin.
According to the official, today Red Square is a place for walking and a tourist center of Moscow.
Stepashin explained: "There is no point in moving the Mausoleum, as well as Lenin's body in it. People walk around, look at it, it's already like a museum," as reported by TASS .
As for the necropolis, according to the former Prime Minister of the country, it should not exist next to the Kremlin wall.
Stepashin also noted that the issue of reburial of Vladimir Lenin’s body should have been decided back in 1991.
In modern realities, it is not necessary to deal with this issue, since the country's population has changed significantly.
The former Russian prime minister added: “I would not stir up the past, there is no need for that.”
Regarding the Kremlin wall and the necropolis next to it, Stepashin stated that concerts are often held in this part of the capital, so the location of the “cemetery” there is inappropriate.
