This weekend, the Israeli Prime Minister's Military Secretary, Major General Roman Hoffman, visited Moscow.
This was reported by Benjamin Netanyahu's office on Sunday, September 1.
The purpose of the visit was said to be to advance the deal to free Israeli hostages in Gaza, TASS writes.
On August 31, Israeli troops entered one of the underground tunnels in the southern Palestinian enclave near the city of Rafah.
There, during the fighting, soldiers discovered the bodies of six hostages taken captive by radicals on October 7, 2023.
It is known that among those killed was Russian citizen Alexander Lobanov. It is noted that the hostages died shortly before the arrival of the Israeli military.
Against this backdrop, Netanyahu's military secretary visited Moscow. Hoffman discussed the fate of Lobanov and other hostages.
Thus, according to the Russian ambassador Anatoly Viktorov, Russian citizen Alexander Trufanov remains in captivity. He is still being held in the Gaza Strip.
The Russian diplomatic corps is doing everything possible to rescue the Russian citizen, Viktorov emphasized.
Many civilians were taken prisoner by Palestinian forces after the conflict with Israel flared up again in October 2023.
Some of the hostages were rescued through the efforts of a number of countries, including Russia, the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.
