Prior to that, he served as Deputy Minister of Defense from 2011 to 2016. He was then Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2016 to 2017.

Antonov headed the Russian embassy in the United States for seven years.

Information about the completion of its work became known on October 5.

However, there is no news yet about which of the possible candidates could take his place.

Information about Antonov’s return to Russia began to appear back in June.

The special flight landed at Moscow's Vnukovo 2 following Saturday's announcement that the Russian ambassador's mission in Washington had ended.
