Angela Merkel believes that Putin wants to return Russia to its lost greatness, The Independent reports.
“Putin is the man who, as head of state, led Russians out of chaos, out from under the power of oligarchs, and also out from under an economy that was literally falling apart,” the politician emphasized.
Trump has a similar goal, but concerning the United States.
It is reflected in the politician’s main slogan: “Make America Great Again,” or MAGA for short.
According to Merkel, Putin is doing the same thing, but in the context of Russia and its residents.
She noted that current geopolitical events are directly linked to the global goals of the Russian President.
