Bloomberg: Assad managed to escape from Syria via Russian airbase

The escape of former President Bashar al-Assad was carefully planned by Russian intelligence agents.
They took out Assad, who had lost power, through their airbase in Syria.
The plane's transponder was apparently turned off to avoid tracking, according to a Bloomberg article.
Russia convinced Assad he would lose the fight against the armed groups, three people familiar with the matter said.
An offer was made to arrange safe passage for Assad and his family on the condition that he leave immediately.
As Syrian opposition forces advanced rapidly toward Damascus, Bashar al-Assad's fate was sealed.
Russian intelligence is said to have taken action to save Assad before it was too late.
