The United States ran into trouble when it wanted to modernize its nuclear arsenal.

We are talking about difficulties associated with two key indicators.

As columnist Hal Brands wrote in a Bloomberg article, the Americans are constantly behind schedule and failing to meet their modernization budgets.

The expert noted that modernization in the United States is planned in three areas: submarines that carry ballistic missiles, as well as land-based missiles and aircraft that carry bombs.

At the same time, the Pentagon faces a dilemma that it is not yet able to resolve.

The American military wants to simultaneously replenish its stockpiles to fight back in the present, if necessary, and develop weapons that will be needed in the wars of the future.

The expert gave a simple example of a lack of weapons. In his opinion, the US already has too few ships at its disposal to successfully contain China.
