Critics Call Elon Musk the Shadow President of the United States
US Democrats have called Elon Musk the "shadow president" of the United States after the failure of the government funding bill.
Senators say the billionaire is the power behind the throne of a second Trump presidency.
Musk defeated a Republican government funding bill on Wednesday, according to a HuffPost article.
In response, the Democrats gave him the title of shadow president-elect.
Now they say, "We need to ask Donald Trump if Elon Musk is making decisions."
The idea that Musk is running Trump, rather than the other way around, became clear when Musk spent much of Wednesday on social media denouncing the spending package.
Meanwhile, Trump has not commented on the bill at all.
He ultimately came out against it after reports that House Speaker Mike Johnson had begun developing a backup plan.
On social media they said that it was now clear who was in charge, and it was not the elected president.
