Poland fears Russia will send ships to the Baltics due to events in Syria
In Poland, the alarm has been raised over the events currently taking place in Syria.
Official Warsaw believes that political tensions in the SAR will force Russia to bring its fleet to the Baltic.
The head of the Polish National Security Bureau, Jacek Siwera, made this statement at a press conference, RIA Novosti reports.
At the same time, the representative of the Polish department did not explain why his country expects such a development of events due to what is happening in Syria.
Sivera only noted that Warsaw is not ready for Russian ships to nullify the efforts of the Polish fleet in the Baltic.
According to the head of the Polish National Security Bureau, we are talking about:
- missile frigates carrying Zircon hypersonic missiles;
- diesel-electric submarine Novorossiysk with Kalibr missiles on board.
According to him, the above-mentioned military vessels have already conducted relevant exercises.
At the same time, three frigates are being built in Poland, which were supposed to strengthen the country’s presence in the Baltic, but the possible basing of Russian frigates in St. Petersburg could reduce these efforts to nothing.
