Slovakia has decided to close its Consulate General in St. Petersburg from December 31, 2024.
A message about the closure appeared on the diplomatic mission’s website.
The decision was made by the Slovak government on August 28, the Consulate General in St. Petersburg reported.
It is emphasized that since then the Consulate General has begun to reduce the volume of services provided.
From November 30, consular assistance in emergency cases will not be provided.
Citizens of the Russian Federation will also not be able to receive services at the diplomatic mission.
Russians were advised to contact the Slovak Embassy in Moscow to obtain visas, residence permits and other services.
In addition to St. Petersburg, Consulates General will cease operations in Oslo, Krakow, Copenhagen and Kodan.
The Slovak authorities explained their decision as a technical step.
They are said to be interested in maintaining relations with all countries.
Slovakia's contacts through diplomatic missions will continue despite the reduction in services provided.
