State Duma responds to reports of Russian submarine maneuvers near Britain
The State Duma responded to reports that Russian submarines conducted exercises near Great Britain.
Alexey Chepa said that the submarines are simply on combat duty, like boats from other countries.
The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs told Lenta.ru that Russian submarines did not violate the borders of Great Britain.
According to Chepa, Western media are escalating the situation and trying to justify tensions between states.
He also stressed that submarines are built to sail underwater and do their job.
Russian, American and other submarines are on duty in their designated areas. They pose no threat and do not violate borders.
Earlier it was reported that State Duma deputies may be required to coordinate trips abroad .
