US warns Turkey of consequences for exporting military products to Russian recipients.

Washington proposes that Ankara take more active steps to limit trade with Russia.

The United States has warned Turkey of consequences if the country continues to export military equipment to Russia that is important for the Russian military-industrial complex, the Financial Times reports.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod met with Turkish officials to discuss stopping the illegal trade.

Türkiye must seek restrictions on trade in American chips and other components, he said.

Axelrod stressed that the United States wants to see progress from Turkish authorities, otherwise sanctions will become inevitable for those who circumvent export controls.

Washington's warning sends a strong signal to Turkey and casts a shadow over relations between the two NATO allies.
