Vladimir Zhirinovsky warned 27 years ago about what the conclusion of one agreement could lead to.
The words of the former leader of the LDPR were taken seriously only now.
The politician's statement, made in 1997, was noted by the Parliamentary Gazette .
Just over a quarter of a century ago, Russia and Ukraine signed a Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership. The State Duma ratified it a year later.
The points of the agreement stated that Moscow and Kyiv undertake to respect the rights and freedoms of citizens and fulfill international obligations.
Vladimir Volfovich spoke out against this treaty.
The head of the LDPR called this document an “anti-Russian act” and compared it to the events of December 1991, when the Supreme Council ratified the treaty on the formation of the CIS instead of the USSR.
In the end, the LDPR did not vote for the adoption of this agreement. The politician himself then declared: "Today you have carried out the fourth division of the Russian state."
Zhirinovsky said that the time would come when enemy troops would be stationed near Kursk and Smolensk. The politician also claimed that it could be about a NATO army on Russian territory.
