Second, don't get too close. Physical contact is important, but if you take someone you barely know by the arm or throw yourself into their arms, they may perceive this behavior as an invasion of personal space.
Thirdly, psychologists recognize crossed arms as the most repulsive human pose. It demonstrates to others a closed, unapproachable and cold attitude, which will completely discourage the interlocutor from communicating with you.
