Fraudsters have burst into the Internet space with a new scheme.
With its help, cybercriminals steal data from Russians via Telegram.
The details were revealed by State Duma deputy Anton Nemkin, RIA Novosti reports.
Attackers have started creating Telegram bots that they pose as official accounts of marketplaces or their support services.
They inform the user that there are allegedly problems with the delivery of the order. They can also inform that there are allegedly problems with the account.
There is only one goal - to get the login and password for your personal account.
The scammers then gain access to the victim's account and then place orders using the user's money or withdraw funds from the store's internal account.
The same bots are also used to send links to phishing resources.
The notifications are very similar to those that marketplaces might send out.
If a person follows the link, they are asked to enter their login and password for an account in the online store. After that, the scammers get hold of the data.
Additionally, these fraudulent bots may convince the user to pay a fee for shipping the item.
As part of this scheme, scammers ask you to transfer funds using the specified details or enter card details.
To make their schemes to lure victims work better, scammers promise discounts, bonuses, gifts, and participation in promotions.
