From July 3, 2024, the Czech Republic will tighten measures against Russian citizens.

All non-biometric passports will be declared invalid within the territory of the state.

This was reported by the publication České noviny , citing a corresponding order from the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is noted that this does not only apply to people entering the Czech Republic. Russian citizens who are already in the country will also be prohibited from doing so without the appropriate document.

According to the publication, the first country to resort to such measures was Denmark.

According to the representative of the Czech Foreign Ministry, Mariana Vernerova, the actions of the authorities in this case are still being worked out.

A Russian citizen who presents a document without biometrics will be considered illegal. However, it is not yet known how such people will be treated.

Non-biometric passports are much easier to modify and counterfeit, Vernerova summed up.

Earlier it was reported that the Czech Republic wants to propose to the EU to ban the import of grain from Russia and Belarus.
